The Policy Review

Independent analysis
of politics, power
and consequence.

Independent analysis and commentary on the political, economic and geopolitical forces shaping the world.

01The Review

Politics. Policy. Power. Consequence.

Politics is rarely as simple as the headline.

The Policy Review is an independent platform for analysis and commentary on the political, economic and geopolitical forces shaping the world.

We examine policy not simply as it is announced, but as it operates: who benefits, who bears the cost, what changes next, and what the consequences may be.

Our coverage moves across borders and disciplines, connecting politics, geopolitics, economics, security, technology and society.

Understanding what happened is only the beginning.

02What we do

Three disciplines

Analysis is only useful when it explains what happens next.

01

Analysis

Evidence-led analysis of political, economic and geopolitical developments.

We go beyond the immediate headline to examine interests, incentives, institutions and consequences.

02

Policy

We examine the decisions governments and institutions make, why they make them and what follows.

Coverage includes domestic politics, foreign policy, economics, defence, migration, regulation, energy, trade and technology.

04Methodology

Six principles

The method matters.

How we separate signal from noise, evidence from assertion and policy from political theatre.

01

Evidence first

We distinguish documented facts from claims, interpretation and opinion.

02

Context matters

A headline is rarely the whole story. We examine the history, institutions and incentives behind an issue.

03

Follow the interests

Policy is shaped by interests. We identify who has them, how they align and where they conflict.

04

Consequences over theatre

Political statements matter. Their practical consequences matter more.

05

Challenge the assumption

We actively test the conventional interpretation rather than simply reproducing it.

06

No false certainty

Where evidence is incomplete, disputed or unknowable, we say so.

Our standard

Independent does not mean neutral between fact and fiction.

It means independent in judgment, transparent about evidence and willing to challenge assumptions wherever they lead.

06Global

Across borders

No single map
defines the story.

Politics increasingly moves across borders.

07Our voice

How we write

Clear. Rigorous. Unflinching.

We write for people who want to understand what is happening, why it matters and what comes next.

  • No outrage for its own sake.
  • No ideological slogans.
  • No clickbait.
  • No false equivalence.
  • No unnecessary jargon.

08Contributors

The people behind the review

The people behind the analysis.

Editors, analysts and strategists who have spent their careers inside the institutions and newsrooms they now examine.

The world does not need
more noise.

It needs better analysis.
